Yes. 24/7 Mobile Tyre Services operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including nights, weekends and bank holidays. Call 07955 533000 at any hour and a working technician answers, not a call centre. We quote your full price on that call, then a fully equipped van is dispatched from our Glasgow base in Polmadie.
That is the answer. The rest of this page is the proof, because you have probably read “24/7” on five websites already today and stopped believing any of them.
What 24/7 Actually Means Here
The phrase has been worn out. In this market it currently covers three completely different things.
Tier one: a booked appointment service with an out of hours voicemail. The website says 24 hours. The phone says leave a message. Someone rings you back at nine the next morning to offer you a slot on Thursday. This is most of them.
Tier two: a 24 hour answering line. A human does pick up, but they are in a contact centre with a script. They take your details and pass them on. Nobody can tell you a price, nobody can tell you when a van is coming, and often nobody comes until the morning shift starts.
Tier three: genuine 24 hour dispatch. The phone reaches a technician who can read your tyre size, quote you a total, and send a loaded van right now. That is what we do.
You cannot tell these apart from a homepage, because all three write the same two digits. So do not take our word for it either.
How to Tell a Real 24 Hour Tyre Service From a Claim
Ring any of them at midnight, before you need them, and check four things.
- Does a human answer? Not a recording, not a form, a person.
- Will they quote you a price on that call? A real operator can. A message-taker cannot.
- Will they give you an arrival window? A specific one, in minutes.
- Do they ask for your tyre size? If nobody asks, nobody is loading a van.
If the answer to any of those is “someone will call you back in the morning”, it is not 24/7. It is a website that stays open while the business sleeps.
Anybody can put 24/7 on a website. Ring them at midnight and see who picks up.
Our Hours, in Plain Terms
| Time or day | Are we open | Typical arrival window, Glasgow core zone |
|---|---|---|
| Weekday daytime | Yes | 30 to 45 minutes |
| Weekday evening | Yes | 30 to 45 minutes |
| Overnight, midnight to 6am | Yes | 40 to 60 minutes |
| Saturday | Yes | 30 to 50 minutes |
| Sunday | Yes | 35 to 55 minutes |
| Bank holidays | Yes | 40 to 60 minutes |
| Christmas Day and New Year’s Day | Yes | 45 to 75 minutes |
Those windows are for Glasgow and the surrounding G postcodes, measured from Polmadie. They are averages, not guarantees.
Overnight sits at the wider end of the range for one honest reason: there are fewer vans on the road at 3am than at 3pm. Longer runs to Edinburgh, Perth, Aberdeen or the Highlands take proportionally longer again, and we will tell you the real number when you call rather than the comfortable one. If timing is your main question, how quickly we can reach you with a flat tyre has the full area by area breakdown.
Who Picks Up the Phone at 3am
A technician. Sometimes the owner. Never an outsourced call centre and never an answering service.
That matters more than it sounds, because of what happens in that one conversation. The person you speak to can read a tyre size off a photo, tell you whether it is on the van, quote you the total, and dispatch. One call, one person, one answer. You are not being logged and passed along.
The phone sits beside the bed. If it rings at four, it rings at four.
WhatsApp on 07955 533000 is monitored overnight too, and at night it is often the better option. Standing in the dark trying to read 225/45 R17 94W aloud to someone is miserable. Photograph the sidewall, drop a location pin, done. It also means the correct tyre goes on the van before it leaves, which is the difference between one trip and two.
One practical note. Call while your phone still has battery. A dying phone is the single most common complication we deal with on night jobs, and it is the one thing we cannot fix from Polmadie.
How Our Pricing Works, Day or Night
We do not publish a fixed price list, and there is a straightforward reason for that. No two callouts are the same job. If you want a general sense of typical costs first, how much mobile tyre fitting costs in Scotland is a useful starting point, but your own quote is always confirmed on the call.
A puncture repair on a driveway in Rutherglen at two in the afternoon and a van tyre replaced on the M74 at two in the morning are different pieces of work, in different places, with different tyres. A single number on a website would either overcharge the first customer or make the second one impossible to serve. So we price each job on what it actually is.
Here is exactly what we look at when you call.
| What we look at | Why it moves the price |
|---|---|
| The work needed | A repair costs considerably less than a replacement. If it can be repaired safely, it will be. |
| Tyre size and vehicle type | A small hatchback tyre, a low profile performance size, a 4×4 fitment and a load rated van tyre are different products at different costs. |
| Tyre tier you choose | Budget, mid range or premium. We carry Landsail and Nexen through Falken, Avon and Dunlop up to Michelin, Continental, Bridgestone, Pirelli and Goodyear. |
| Distance from Polmadie | A Glasgow city job and a run up the A9 are not the same trip. Distance is real and we account for it. |
| Time of day and day of week | Overnight, Sunday and bank holiday work is factored in. It is explained on the call, never sprung on you afterwards. See is there an extra charge for night-time tyre callouts for a fuller answer. |
| Anything extra the job needs | A TPMS sensor, the pressure sensor built into the wheel, or a locking wheel nut that has to be extracted first. |
Now the part that matters more than any of the above.
Your total is quoted and agreed on the phone before the van moves. One figure, covering the tyre, the fitting, balancing, torquing and taking the old tyre away. No renegotiation at the roadside, no surcharge appearing when the card machine comes out, and no new number because it turned out to be raining.
We know exactly what the fear is here, so we will name it. People assume that anyone who answers at 3am must be charging triple for the privilege. Some operators do work that way, with a flat out of hours surcharge bolted onto everything. We do not price off your desperation. We price off the job, and you hear the number before you commit to anything.
Here is a small proof of that. Industrial estate near Motherwell, Thursday, 1am, taxi driver. A slow puncture finally gave out between fares. It was a nail in the centre tread, well inside the repairable area, so it was plugged and patched to BS AU 159 rather than replaced. A fraction of the cost of a new tyre, at one in the morning, when he had no way of shopping around. He was working again within the hour. We do not sell you a tyre when a repair will do, and that is as true at 1am as it is at 1pm.
If you want a figure right now, ring or message. Two minutes and a photo of your sidewall is all it takes.
Need us now? Call or WhatsApp 07955 533000, any hour of any day. Send a photo of the tyre sidewall and drop a location pin, and we will confirm your full price before the van leaves Polmadie.
What Changes Overnight and What Does Not
| Daytime | Overnight | |
|---|---|---|
| Technicians | Certified, fully qualified | The same people |
| Equipment | On-board balancer, torque wrench, tyre machine | Identical, plus work lamps and beacons |
| Tyre range | Budget to premium, manufacturer warranties | The same stock |
| Standard of work | Balanced and torqued to setting | No difference at all |
| How you are quoted | Full total agreed on the call | Exactly the same, no roadside surprises |
| Arrival window, Glasgow | 30 to 45 minutes | 40 to 60 minutes |
| Vans on the road | More | Fewer, so a queue is possible |
| Unusual tyre sizes | Sourced quickly | Can take longer before dawn |
| Location judgement | Standard | Stricter after dark |
We would rather be candid about the three things in that right-hand column than pretend a night shift is identical to a Tuesday afternoon.
If both vans are already out at 2am, you will be told. “You are second, that is about ninety minutes” is a useful sentence. “We will be right there” is not, and you deserve to be able to decide whether to wait, sit tight, or make other arrangements.
Unusual sizes are the other honest caveat. Low profile, performance, 4×4 and van fitments sometimes have to be picked in Polmadie before departure. A layby on the A9 south of Perth, Friday, 3:30am, 4×4 towing a trailer was exactly that job. It was quoted honestly at over two hours before the van left Glasgow, the customer chose to wait knowing the real number, and the tyre was loaded before departure rather than gambled on. An honest two hours beats a dishonest thirty minutes.
A Night on the Vans
One night, three jobs, in the order they came in.
Glasgow city centre multi-storey car park, Saturday, 11:40pm, small hatchback. Two young women came back from a night out to a flat nearside front and no spare wheel, just a sealant kit in the boot. The damage was a long screw through the shoulder of the tread, too close to the sidewall to repair safely, so it had to be a replacement. The size came through on WhatsApp as a photo, a matching mid range tyre came off the van, and the wheel was balanced on the on-board balancer before it went back on and was torqued to setting. Under half an hour on site. A sealant kit was never going to save that one, and shoulder damage is not repairable by anybody, at any price.
M8 near Junction 21, Tuesday, 2:15am, Transit van. A rear tyre let go at speed with a night delivery driver on board. He did everything correctly: hard shoulder, high-vis on before the door opened, out on the passenger side, up behind the barrier, then call. On arrival the first job was not the wheel. It was positioning, beacons and work lamps, working from the offside only where the traffic allowed. Van tyres also need the load index and speed rating to match the original, not just the size, which was checked on the call. About twenty five minutes of work and he was moving.
Residential street in Paisley, Sunday, 5:20am, family estate. Flat found at the kerb with a bag already in the boot and a Glasgow Airport flight to make. Time was the whole job. The size was confirmed on the call and the tyre was already on the van, but the locking wheel nut key had been missing since the car was bought second hand, so the extraction kit came out first. Done at the kerbside with the family still indoors.
That last one is worth a reminder for everybody reading. Check your locking wheel nut key is actually in your car. Most people discover it is missing at the worst possible moment.
Staying Safe While You Wait, After Dark
Nothing on this page matters more than this section.
If you are on a motorway or a fast road:
- Get off the live carriageway if you safely can. On a smart motorway, aim for an emergency refuge area.
- Hazards on immediately.
- High-vis on before you open the door, not after. Keep it in the door pocket, not the boot.
- Everyone out on the passenger side, then behind the barrier or up the verge.
- Do not put out a warning triangle on a motorway, and do not attempt even a simple repair yourself.
Never change a wheel on the driver’s side of a live road in the dark. Not with a space saver, not “just quickly”. The Highway Code rules 274 to 278 cover breakdown conduct and the AA’s breakdown advice says the same thing.
If you are in a city car park, a quiet street or an industrial estate, the calculation is different. Where you are not obstructing traffic, staying inside the car with the doors locked is usually the sensible choice, which is also the AA’s guidance. Share your live location with someone. Keep the number you called in your recent list.
First thing we ask at night is not what tyre. It is where exactly are you standing, and is there a barrier.
24/7 Mobile Tyre Fitting vs Breakdown Cover vs Waiting Until Morning
| Option | Available overnight | What actually happens | Time to back on the road |
|---|---|---|---|
| Our 24/7 mobile fitting | Yes, every night | A new tyre supplied, fitted, balanced and torqued, or a repair | Usually under 90 minutes in Glasgow |
| National breakdown patrol | Yes | Usually fits your spare, or attempts a temporary fix | Fine with a spare, nothing without one |
| Recovery truck | Yes | Tows you to a garage | A car at a shut garage until morning |
| Waiting until a garage opens | No | You sit it out | Morning at the earliest |
Two things are worth knowing before you decide.
Kwik Fit, the largest name in the market, state in their own mobile tyre fitting FAQ that they do not offer an emergency roadside service, because their mobile routes are pre-planned. Over 200 mobile fitters and over 600 centres, and the honest answer at 2am is still an appointment slot. That is not a criticism of them, it is just how a booked-route model works.
And the spare wheel problem. Most cars built in the last decade leave the factory with a sealant kit and no wheel at all. A patrol whose fix is to fit your spare cannot help if there is nothing there to fit. A sealant kit, meanwhile, works on a small puncture in the centre of the tread and does nothing whatsoever for a sidewall cut or a blowout.
Where We Cover, Day or Night
All Glasgow postcodes from G1 to G84, plus Paisley, East Kilbride, Clydebank, Rutherglen, Bearsden, Bishopbriggs, Hamilton, Motherwell, Wishaw and Kilmarnock. The M8, M74 and M77 corridors are covered around the clock.
Wider Scotland runs to Edinburgh, Stirling, Falkirk, Perth, Dundee, Aberdeen, Inverness and Ayr, plus Carlisle just over the border.
One honest sentence about the rest. Overnight Highland and rural runs take hours, not minutes, and the A9 and A82 are long roads. We still come, we simply factor the distance into your quote and tell you the real timing first. There is more detail on how that works in we cover the Highlands and rural Scotland.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are you really open 24 hours? Yes. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including nights, weekends and bank holidays, and that includes Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. Call 07955 533000 at any hour. The simplest way to verify any operator, including us, is to ring them once at midnight before you ever need them.
Who answers the phone in the middle of the night? A working technician, sometimes the owner. Not a call centre and not an answering service. That person can read your tyre size, quote you a full price and dispatch a van in the same conversation, rather than taking a message for the morning.
Do you charge extra at night or at the weekend? We price each job individually rather than running a fixed list, so the time of day is one of several things we account for, alongside the work needed, your tyre and how far we travel. What never changes is that you get the full total on the call, before the van moves. Nothing is added at the roadside. For more detail, see is there an extra charge for night-time tyre callouts.
Why do you not publish a price list? Because no two callouts are the same. A repair on a driveway in Rutherglen and a van tyre on the M74 at 2am involve different work, different tyres and different distances. A single published figure would be wrong for almost everybody. Ring us with your size and postcode and you will have a real number in about two minutes. See also how much mobile tyre fitting costs in Scotland.
Are you open on Sundays and bank holidays? Yes, both, and there is no separate holiday closure. Sundays and bank holidays are among our busiest times, partly because most tyre centres are shut and partly because that is when people are travelling. Christmas Day and New Year’s Day included.
Can you fit a tyre in the dark? Yes. The vans carry work lamps and beacons, and lighting the work area properly is part of the setup before anything is touched. What changes at night is not the ability, it is the location judgement. If where you are parked is genuinely unsafe to work in, we will say so and suggest the alternative.
What if all your vans are out? Then you will be told that, with a realistic time. Overnight there are fewer vans on the road, so a queue does happen. Being told “you are second, that is about ninety minutes” lets you decide what to do. Being told “we will be right there” and then waiting two hours does not.
Can you do a puncture repair at 3am, or only a replacement? Full service overnight, repairs included, and a repair costs considerably less than a replacement. If the damage sits in the central tread and the casing is sound, we repair it to BS AU 159 rather than selling you a tyre. Sidewall and shoulder damage cannot be repaired safely at any hour, by anyone.
Should I just wait until morning? Sometimes, yes. If you are safely parked at home, off the road, and not going anywhere until nine, waiting is perfectly sensible. If you are at a roadside, in a car park at night, on a motorway, or you need the car in the morning, call. We will give you an honest view either way.
Do you come out on motorways at night? Yes, where it is safe to do so, and motorway jobs get priority because of the risk. Get off the live lane if you can, hazards on, high-vis before the door opens, everyone behind the barrier, then call. Do not attempt anything yourself, including a space saver swap. See the Highway Code’s official breakdown guidance for the full rules.
What if I have no spare wheel? That is now the normal situation rather than the exception. It changes nothing for us. We arrive with the actual tyre, the machine and the balancer, so nothing needs to be in your boot. It is precisely why a mobile fitter beats a spare-fitting patrol on most modern cars.
How do I pay at night? Card at the vehicle, contactless included. Nobody should be looking for a cash machine at 2am. The amount is the amount you agreed on the phone before we set off.
Do you cover the Highlands overnight? Yes, though timings are honest rather than flattering. An overnight run up the A9 or A82 is a matter of hours, not minutes, and the distance is reflected in the quote you are given before we leave Glasgow. Nobody should be quoting you thirty minutes to Fort William. See our Inverness and Highlands coverage page for more.
Save This Number Before You Need It
If you are standing next to a car right now, stop reading and call 07955 533000. Phone or WhatsApp, any hour. Tell us the size and where you are, and you will have your price and an arrival window in a couple of minutes.
If you are not, do the more useful thing and put the number in your phone tonight. Nobody wants to be searching “24 hour tyre fitter Glasgow” on a dying phone on the hard shoulder at 2am. Certified technicians, fully equipped vans, a real Glasgow base at 100 Jessie St, Polmadie, and a 5.0 rating from 66 Google reviews.
Nobody plans a flat tyre for a Tuesday afternoon. That is the whole reason we work the hours we do.
