Falkirk sits inside a motorway triangle. The M9 runs past Polmont, Grangemouth and Larbert with junctions at 4, 5, 6 and 7, the M876 links Denny to Airth, and the M80 carries the Glasgow commute from Junctions 7 and 8. Those are fast roads with a lot of merging, and sudden deflations there are our most common night call in the area.

What Falkirk roads do to tyres
Falkirk is a freight town wrapped in motorways, and that combination shows up in the tyres we replace.
Start with the freight. Grangemouth is Scotland’s largest container terminal, handling well over 200,000 containers a year with direct M9 access, and the industrial estates around it run heavy vehicles all day. Roads that carry constant HGV traffic wear differently to residential streets. Surfaces rut, edges break up, and the debris count is higher. Van tyres take the brunt of it, which is why so much of our Falkirk work is light commercial.
Then the motorways. The M9, M876 and M80 meet within a few miles of each other, and the shared M9 and M876 stretch is three lanes each way, the most northerly three lane motorway in the UK. That means high speed, high volume and a lot of lane changing. It also means a deflation there is a serious event rather than an inconvenience, so the safety advice further down this page genuinely matters.
Then the winter. Freeze and thaw opens up any surface that has taken water, and the pothole numbers reported to Falkirk Council show the scale of it. The council has been resurfacing hard and clearing gullies at a much higher rate than before, which helps, but the Braes villages up the hill, the rural roads towards Slamannan and Standburn and the lanes around Airth still take longer to get attention than the main routes.
A practical point for local van drivers. If you load your van heavily, run the pressures the manufacturer specifies for a laden vehicle, not the unladen figure. Under inflation under load is the fastest way to destroy a light commercial tyre, and it is the single most common avoidable failure we see around Grangemouth.

No, and you should be wary of anyone who says they will. The Highway Code advises you not to attempt repairs on the hard shoulder. Pull as far left as possible, leave the vehicle by the passenger side, get behind the barrier and call for help. Once your vehicle is recovered to a safe location we will come out and fit the tyre.

Yes. We carry extraction tooling and remove locking nuts without damaging the alloy in the great majority of cases, and can supply a replacement set at the same visit.
Will you fit tyres I have bought myself?
Yes, fitting only work is fine, including balancing and pressure setting. We will check the size and specification against your vehicle before fitting and tell you if it is wrong.
My tyre pressure warning light keeps returning. What is it?
Usually a corroded valve or a TPMS sensor at the end of its battery life rather than a genuine leak. We test it properly, replace the faulty part and reset the system before we leave.
Can you come to a car park or a works yard?
Yes, as long as there is room to open the doors on the affected side and it is safe to work. Hospital, retail park and industrial yard callouts are routine for us in Falkirk.
