Mobile Tyre Fitting Across the Scottish Highlands

A blowout on the A9 north of Slochd, a sidewall gone on a single track road in Wester Ross, or a motorhome sitting in a passing place with no usable spare. We fit tyres at your vehicle across the Highlands, 24 hours a day. Searching for a mobile tyre fitter near you somewhere up here? The honest answer depends entirely on where “here” is, and this page explains how we work that out.

Mobile tyre fitting across the Highlands

We are 24/7 Mobile Tyre Services, a family run Glasgow business providing 24 hour mobile tyre fitting in Scotland, from the Central Belt to the far north. The van is the workshop. We fit, balance and torque on site, so the job finishes where your vehicle is standing, whether that is a driveway in Dingwall or a passing place above Loch Maree.

Every van carries a tyre changing machine, a computerised wheel balancer, a torque wrench, TPMS diagnostic tools, a locking wheel nut extraction kit and work lighting for night jobs. We stock budget, mid-range and premium tyres in sizes up to 285/40 R23, and we fit customer supplied tyres too.

Give us your registration on the call and we confirm the size, load index, speed rating and stock before anyone sets off. In the Highlands, that single check is the difference between one visit and two.

Our core mobile tyre fitting service runs 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

How far we come, and how we work out the time

Let us start with the sentence most tyre websites will not write. The Highlands cover a huge area, we are a Glasgow business, and nobody covers all of it from one place. Any company showing you a map with the whole of Scotland shaded in, with no explanation of how that works, is not being straight with you.

Here is how it actually works. When you call, we look at where our nearest van is at that moment, the time of day, the road you are on and the conditions. From that we give you a window on the call. A real one. The further north and west you are, the longer that window gets, and we will not pretend otherwise.

That distance is also why we confirm your tyre size and stock before anyone sets off. A four hour drive with the wrong tyre on board helps nobody, so the registration check happens first, every time.

And the line that matters most on a page like this: if we cannot get to you in a time that works for your situation, we will say so on the call. If someone closer can honestly help you faster in an emergency, we will tell you to phone them. We would rather lose a job than leave you sitting on a verge for six hours.

While you wait, get somewhere safe and fully off the carriageway if you can. Hazard lights on. On a fast road, get out of the vehicle and behind a barrier. Do not drive further on a flat than you absolutely must, because it destroys the tyre and can damage the rim.

Tell us where you are and we will tell you how long. Call 07955 533000.

Tyres, motorhomes and the NC500

The NC500 and the wider touring routes put thousands of unfamiliar vehicles onto single track roads every season. Motorhomes, campervans and hire cars are the three that call us most, and they all fail in their own way.

On single track roads, the damage is almost never in the tread. Soft verges and the loose stone that gathers in passing places catch the sidewall, and a sidewall cut cannot be repaired safely under any standard. It is a replacement, wherever you are.

Motorhome tyres deserve their own paragraph. Load ratings matter more than tread depth, camper rated and reinforced tyres exist for a reason, and motorhome tyres very often fail on age rather than wear because the vehicle sits for months at a time. Rubber hardens and cracks whether the wheels turn or not.

Hire cars bring a different trap. Many carry a sealant kit and no spare at all, and once that sealant has gone into the tyre, the tyre usually cannot be repaired afterwards. If you are stranded in a hire car up here, you are exactly the caller we planned this service around.

We also fit motorcycle tyres, which almost nobody in this space mentions, despite the Highlands being one of the great motorcycle touring regions in Europe.

One scenario says it all. A motorhome on a single track road in Wester Ross, sidewall opened by a stone, no usable spare, and no phone signal until the driver walked to the top of the hill. That is the kind of job this page exists for.

If you are planning the route: check your pressures and your tyre ages before you set off, not after. Know where your locking wheel nut key is. And save a number, ideally ours.

The Highland roads where tyres fail

The A9 is the spine of the Highlands, carrying freight, coaches and tourist traffic on long sustained runs between Perth, Inverness and the far north. Drumochter and Slochd are high and exposed, and sustained speed builds heat, which is what turns a small unnoticed puncture into a blowout. Our Pitlochry and Aviemore pages cover that corridor in detail, and north of Inverness the road runs on over the Berriedale Braes into Caithness.

The A82 is the western equivalent, running from Glasgow through Glen Coe, Rannoch Moor and the Great Glen to Fort William and beyond. Long, demanding and busy, it produces a steady share of our remote callouts.

The A87 to Skye and the A835 to Ullapool are fast in places, tight in others, and heavily loaded through the summer. Once you leave the trunk roads, the single track network takes over: soft verges, loose stone, cattle grids, and passing places that are not always level ground for a jack.

We treat these as roads we work, not words on a coverage list. That is the difference this page is built on.

What we can do at the side of a Highland road

Mobile tyre fitting

Tyres supplied and fitted at your home, your accommodation or the roadside, balanced and torqued to the manufacturer specification before we pack up.

Emergency tyre replacement, 24 hours

Our emergency tyre replacement service runs through the night, on Sundays and on every bank holiday, which up here is often the only option there is.

Puncture repair

Where the damage sits in the central three quarters of the tread and is within the BSAU159 limits, we do a proper puncture repair rather than selling you a tyre you do not need.

Wheel balancing

The computerised balancer travels with us, so wheel balancing happens on site, and the vibration you noticed at 60 does not follow you home.

TPMS sensor replacement

Cold Highland mornings light up dashboards. We diagnose real leaks from failed sensors and handle TPMS sensor replacement at the vehicle.

Locking wheel nut removal

A lost key on a touring holiday is miserable. Our locking wheel nut removal kit sorts it at the roadside without damaging the wheel.

Motorhomes, campervans, motorcycles, 4x4s and vans

Correct load ratings for motorhomes, motorcycle tyre fitting for the touring crowd, and commercial tyres for the vans, pickups and estate vehicles that keep the Highlands working.

What we get called out to in the Highlands

Blowouts on the A9 and the A82

Speed, heat and distance between garages make the two trunk roads our biggest source of Highland work. We bring the tyre out and finish the job in the layby.

Sidewall cuts on single track and forestry roads

Verges and loose stone catch sidewalls, and sidewalls cannot be repaired. We replace on site and check the rest of the set while the tools are out.

Motorhomes and hire cars with no usable spare

The most common touring emergency there is. We source the correct size, confirm it before dispatch and fit it where the vehicle stands.

Tyres that failed on age rather than tread

Holiday vehicles, seasonal cars and motorhomes that sit for months grow old quietly. Cracked rubber fails without warning, usually on the first long run of the year.

Winter damage on untreated rural roads

Frost breaks surfaces, grit chews rubber, and the minor road network gets little treatment. Winter is our busiest Highland season for exactly that reason.

How a Highland callout works

Step 01

Call or WhatsApp 07955 533000. A postcode, a road number, the nearest village or a what3words reference all work. WhatsApp gets through on a weaker signal than a voice call, which is worth remembering up here.

Step 02

We confirm size and stock before anyone moves. Registration or the size off the sidewall, load index and speed rating, checked against the van. On Highland distances this check is everything.

Step 03

You get the total price and a real arrival window. The price includes the distance and any out of hours element, and it does not change on arrival.

Step 04

We fit on site. Changed, balanced on the computerised balancer, torqued to the manufacturer specification.

Step 05

We check the rest. Pressures on all four, TPMS reset, tread checked against the 1.6mm legal minimum.

Step 06

Card or bank transfer at the vehicle, receipt issued, old tyre taken away.

Why Highland drivers call us

We come out to actual breakdowns. Most national mobile fitting services run pre-booked appointment slots. Kwik Fit’s own mobile fitting FAQ states they do not offer an emergency roadside service. Emergencies are precisely what we built this business on.
24 hours, 365 days. Including the nights, Sundays and holidays when everything up here is shut.
Over 20 years, family run. You speak to the people who do the work, and the person quoting your job knows what the A9 looks like at 2am.
Everything in one visit. Stock confirmed first, then fitting, balancing, TPMS and disposal all at your vehicle.
Honest about time and distance. The whole coverage section above is our promise in writing. No shaded maps, no invented response times.
Quoted price is the final price. Distance, tyre and out of hours element included, agreed before the van leaves.

Where we cover in the Highlands

Towns with their own page

Inverness, the Highland capital and the hub of the A9 north. Fort William, covering Lochaber, Glencoe and the Road to the Isles. Aviemore, covering Strathspey, the Cairngorms and the A9 passes. Pitlochry, covering Highland Perthshire and the A9 tourist corridor. Perth sits at the southern gateway.

The wider Highland area

Badenoch and Strathspey around Kingussie and Grantown-on-Spey. Lochaber and the Great Glen, from Glencoe up through Fort Augustus. Easter Ross, taking in Dingwall, Alness, Invergordon, Tain and Dornoch. Wester Ross, from Lochcarron and Gairloch to Ullapool. Skye and Lochalsh, over the bridge from Kyle of Lochalsh to Portree. And the far north, Sutherland and Caithness, from Golspie, Brora and Helmsdale round to Wick, Thurso, Tongue, Bettyhill, Durness and Lochinver.

Postcode areas

We work across the IV, PH and KW postcode areas. Coverage inside them is honest and distance dependent, exactly as described above, so the further from the trunk roads you are, the more the arrival window stretches.

What our customers say

We hold a 4.9 average from 76 Google reviews. Most were left by Central Belt customers, since that is our oldest ground, but the remote jobs are the ones we are proudest of.

“Got a puncture in a remote spot by Loch Lomond. They came out with the exact OE tyre for my car and had it sorted at the roadside. Really well equipped vehicle.”

Simon Drohan

“Stranded at 2am on the motorway. They sourced a tyre and arrived in 20 minutes. Lifesavers.”

D Franco

“Really impressed with how safely they worked at the roadside. Professional from start to finish.”

Mobile tyre fitting in the Highlands: your questions answered

Do you really cover the whole of the Scottish Highlands?

We cover the Highlands on an honest, distance based basis. The A9 and A82 corridors and the towns around them are regular ground for us. The far north and west take longer, and we tell you the realistic window on the call before you commit to anything.

Polmadie, in Glasgow. We are not going to pretend to have a Highland depot, because we do not. What we have is a fleet that works the length of Scotland, a stock check before every dispatch, and a habit of telling you the truth about timing.

It depends on where you are and where our nearest van is working. Perthshire and the A9 corridor are usually a couple of hours. Lochaber and Strathspey are longer runs, and the far north and west are longer again. You get a real window on the call, not a slogan.

Yes, every day of the year. Out of hours callouts are the core of our Highland work, because the local garages that do exist keep daytime hours.

The quote covers the tyre, the fitting and the full distance, confirmed before anyone sets off, and it does not change on arrival. Remote jobs cost more than city jobs because the drive is real, but you will know the exact figure before you decide.

Yes. We fit motorhome and campervan tyres with the correct load rating, including camper rated and reinforced fitments, at campsites, laybys and passing places. Give us the size off the sidewall and we confirm stock before dispatch.

Yes, we fit motorcycle tyres, which matters in a region this popular with touring riders. Tell us the bike, the tyre size and where you are, and we will confirm stock and a time on the call.

Do not use the sealant unless you have no other option, because a sealant filled tyre usually cannot be repaired afterwards. Call us with the registration, and we will source the correct size and fit it where the car stands. Let your hire company know as you go.

If the damage sits in the central three quarters of the tread and is within the BSAU159 repair limits, yes, and a repair costs far less than a tyre. Sidewall damage, the classic single track injury, cannot be repaired safely and needs a replacement.

Get the vehicle into a passing place if you can, so the road stays open, and put your hazards on. Signal often returns on higher ground, and a WhatsApp message will send on a weaker connection than a call. A what3words reference is the easiest way to tell us exactly where you are.

Get a mobile tyre fitter out anywhere in the Highlands

Tell us where you are, even if that is just a road number and a guess, and tell us what has happened. You will have a total price and a realistic arrival time before the call ends, and if we are not the right option for your situation, we will say so. From the A9 corridor to the west coast, we cover the Highlands 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
